Family Time at Willard Beach | Maine Family Photographer

Saturday was a perfect day for family sessions! Not only was it a perfect mix of sun and clouds but the weather was just the right temperature AND there was barely a breeze at the beach. I met up with the Oztuncer family at one of my favorite spots to photograph, Willard Beach in South Portland. Willard Beach has a mix of everything you could want, soft white sand, rocky outcrops overlooking the bay filled with anchored sailboats, distant views of the Portland Head Light, a fort left over from World War II and a walkway to one of the smaller lighthouses that guard the entrance to Casco Bay. Little A was the center of focus for this session, he’s 2 and a little shy. A warmed up quickly though with a little encouragement from mom and dad tickling him and telling him he had dirty feet. Dirty feet seem to always make kids smile. We started our session by the concession stand, which just so happened to match little A’s shirt, and then headed down the beach to the rocks and then up to the lighthouse. We ended with letting A play in the ocean and just in time for one of the large cruise ships that dock in Portland to pass by on it’s way back out to sea. What a perfect way to end a scenic family session!
